La conectividad de Lucid Air es impulsada exclusivamente por AT&T

AT&T anunció hoy en el MWC Barcelona que ha sido elegido como socio de conectividad exclusivo para la línea de vehículos eléctricos de Lucid.

Este anuncio significa que AT&T ahora está disponible en más de 60 marcas de automóviles. Esto incluye GM (Chevy, Buick, Cadillac, GMC), Ford, Audi y muchos otros. La mayoría usa AT&T para alimentar servicios como punto de acceso móvil o algo como OnStar, Ford Sync.

Con Lucid, AT&T se usará para cosas como telemática, diagnóstico, transmisión de audio y navegación inteligente. Esto ayudará a que la autopista maximice el rango de conducción y minimice las paradas de carga. Por supuesto, el Lucid Air tiene un alcance de hasta 516 millas (probado por la EPA), por lo que es más probable que necesites un descanso antes que el auto.

Michael Bell, vicepresidente sénior de Lucid Motors, afirmó que “la solidez de la red de AT&T y el liderazgo de IoT en autos conectados son razones clave por las que Lucid eligió a AT&T para conectar nuestros vehículos. La industria automotriz está evolucionando y, juntos, Lucid y AT&T están creando nuevas oportunidades para los conductores y los vehículos”.

AT&T ha trabajado arduamente durante la última década para expandir sus ofertas. Si bien puede ser difícil obtener más usuarios de teléfonos inteligentes, AT&T ha agregado millones de vehículos a sus redes. Ahora tiene asociaciones con casi todos los fabricantes de automóviles para la conectividad. Ese es un gran problema para AT&T, porque genera dinero extra para su red. Y también excluye a sus competidores.

Actualmente, muchos vehículos ya están conectados. Pero dado que muchos OEM están trabajando en vehículos eléctricos, todos estarán conectados de alguna manera. Especialmente para la navegación, ya que estas aplicaciones de navegación comenzarán a agregar formas de encontrar estaciones de carga, preacondicionar potencialmente su EV para que pueda alcanzar las velocidades de carga más rápidas posibles y más.
