En el Mobile World Congress (MWC) a finales de este mes, Vodafone planea presentar un nuevo concepto de dispositivo del tamaño aproximado de un enrutador Wi-Fi doméstico. Alimentado por una sola Raspberry Pi 4, con una placa de circuito de radio definida por software (SDR) habilitada para 5G conectada, el dispositivo podría permitir que las pequeñas empresas y los hogares amplíen o amplíen la capacidad de la cobertura 5G a un bajo costo.

La iniciativa forma parte de los planes de Vodafone para hacer que las redes móviles privadas (MPN) sean más accesibles para las pequeñas y medianas empresas de toda Europa. Además, también formará parte de la apuesta de Vodafone la prestación de este servicio a particulares.

Si no está familiarizado con las MPN, las grandes empresas suelen utilizarlas para crear una red alternativa separada de la red móvil pública disponible. Esto permite a estas empresas experimentar una conexión de red más rápida y segura. El concepto que se le ocurrió a Vodafone permitiría que las empresas y los hogares más pequeños se beneficiaran de la misma tecnología.
